Ernestine Adam's Pet Grooming
Over the years, Ernestine Adams in Darlington has opened her shop to many of our pets who arrived at our facility covered with huge, hanging mats all over their bodies. With a caring, calm hand, Ernestine has restored dignity to many of these lost souls. She has rediscovered their beauty and spirit by clipping away the nasty mats and bringing out the stunning pet below. Help support the fine service Ernestine provides to the community by bringing your pet in to her today!

Florence Elks Donate Time, Steps and Supplies: Over the last two months, Kim Bagget at the Florence Elks has spearheaded a donation drive to keep the shelter stocked and to accumulate supplies and man power to build new steps to our office. With over 168 lbs of donated food to fill our storage building plus a laundry list of cleaning and exam room supplies, the pets and people at the shelter are so very thrilled to see the kindness and generosity from this local civic group. With other "to do" handiwork items on their list, we all look forward to opening our doors again to the Florence Elks. To learn more about the Florence Elks, click here. Donation From Pedigree Adoption Drive Foundation:
Recently the Darlington County Rescue Team applied for and was granted $653.87 under the Dogs Rule Grant. Under the terms of this grant, we will be using this money to benefit dog adoptions. We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to put this money to good use in rehoming pets in Darlington County, SC. Updated: November 30, 2010.
Food for our Pets:
Darlene Shotts of Concord, NC and Denise Pate of Florence surprised us by pulling up to the shelter beginning of June with a trailer loaded with hundreds of pounds of food and supplies to make sure all of our pets have full bellies. In addition to donating the supplies, the ladies also brought with them "treasured goodies" to support our yard sale. Special recognition also to Kathy McDonald who covered the cost in having the supplies unloaded and restocked at our shelter. Many, many thanks to these fabulous ladies who clearly went the extra "mile" to make a difference in the lives of so many pets here in Darlington County.
On June 5 residents of Darlington and Hartsville came out in droves to support our yard sale to help us continue to provide meds to every pet we take in. By days end after a lot of hard work, we had many tired bodies counting the over $3500 raised at the event!! Many thanks to our volunteers and donors who made it all possible. Special thanks and tufts of fur to Omie McClary and Kathy McDonald who collected and picked up items for the sale and organized the whole event.
Dargan Foundation:
Recently we received funding from Shaw and Linda Dargan through the Dargan Foundation to support our efforts in expanding our cat habitats. Through this foundation, we were able to double our outdoor housing for felines. A couple volunteers from the Hartsville Woodworkers Club, Norman Miner (left) and Leslie Bradshaw (middle) helped complete the new project by adding new homes and scratching trees to the new living quarters. Thanks to both groups for working together to bring much needed housing to our kitty population!
